What areas can be treated?

Hair from all parts of the body can be removed including the face, legs, arms, underarms and back. We can also treat sensitive areas like the chest, nipples and bikini line.

How does it work and will it hurt?

Lasers remove hair by destroying the blood supply to the hair follicle. Our laser cools and soothes as it glides along your skin. When the pulse of light is delivered, some clients experience a mild pinching sensation similar to a rubber band snapping the skin. No local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required; however, some clients may prefer to use a topical anesthetic when sensitive areas are treated.

How many treatments will I need?

Most areas require 3-6 treatments. Average treatments needed for most people are 6, but some people may need additional treatment depending on the hair growth and area; and to achieve maximum permanent removal. It is very important to adhere closely to your laser schedule. Failure to not follow your schedule may result in more treatments than normal. The reason hair removal requires multiple treatments is because the hair grows in cycles. You have much more hair lying dormant under the skin than is actually growing at any given time. The hairs typically change cycles about every 6 weeks. Therefore treatments must be performed about 6 weeks apart.

How should I prepare for my treatment?

Clients scheduled for hair removal should avoid plucking, electrolysis or hair waxing for six weeks prior to treatment. Before you arrive for each hair removal treatment, try to avoid the sun and artificial tanning beds for 2 weeks prior. You should also avoid spray-on tans for 7 days prior to treatment. The treatment area should be absolutely clean of any deodorants, lotions, makeup, sun block, or any other chemicals or skincare products. Also, you will need to shave the area to be treated prior to your laser hair removal procedure. If you suspect you are pregnant it is important to let us know. Finally, make a note of any medications that you are currently taking. Let us know each time you have a treatment if you have taken any new medications or received any sun exposure.

Are there any restrictions post-treatment?

Following the treatment, you can return to your normal activities right away, but some redness may occur. The use of sunscreen (SPF 30 or greater) is recommended on any treated areas exposed to the sun. In addition, for the first few days after treatment, don’t scrub or rinse the treated areas with abrasive skin cleansers.

How does our laser compare with electrolysis?

Electrolysis is a tedious, invasive and painful process that involves inserting a needle into each individual hair follicle and delivering an electrical charge to them one at a time. Electrolysis often requires years of treatments at regular intervals. By delivering light energy to hundreds of hair follicles at a time, the CoolGlide effectively treats an area in just seconds that would take over an hour with electrolysis.

Why choose our laser over other laser hair removal systems?

Using the latest technology in laser hair removal, the CoolGlide can rapidly treat large areas without the limitations of older technologies. Our laser can be used safely and effectively on clients with light or dark skin as well as tanned skin. Unlike other systems, the CoolGlide can treat the fine hair on a woman’s upper lip just as easily and effectively as the coarse hair on a man’s back. The cooled hand piece increases client comfort and minimizes the adverse skin reaction commonly seen with other lasers.
