Ultherapy

Ulthera Bladeless Lift

As we age, our body’s existing collagen weakens, as our tissue loses tone and elasticity. Environmental factors such as sun damage can further stress skin, causing sagging and development of fine lines that can add years to appearance. A surgical facelift may provide excellent results, but can be expensive, and requires an extensive recovery period. Ultherapy strengthens existing collagen, speeds up collagen production, and tightens tissue without downtime or pain!

How It Works

Ultherapy harnesses the power of ultrasound energy that strengths and builds collagen in the deep levels of the skin. Ultrasound energy creates thermal (heat) energy that triggers the body to naturally produce and repair collagen. When the Ultherapy applicator is placed on the skin during treatment, an ultrasound image is created, which is then used as a guide for targeting collagen that needs regeneration and repair. Treatments cause little to no discomfort, and usually takes less than 90 minutes depending on the size of area treated.

Benefits of Ultherapy

Ultherapy is the only nonsurgical, FDA approved anti-aging procedure that targets and repairs the deep layers of tissue and collagen utilizing ultrasound technology. Ulthera is different from similar anti-aging procedures which commonly use radio frequency, because ultrasound waves produce images that act as a guide for the treating physician, and precisely penetrates deep levels of the skin. Treatment results are noticeable with just one treatment, and will continue to improve over the next several months.

  • Takes between 30 and 90 minutes
  • No downtime
  • Tightens facial tissue
  • Regenerates and repairs collagen

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is someone who has a full understanding of the Ulthera procedure, is in good health, holds reasonable expectations of results, and has some degree of laxity or is in need of collagen rejuvenation. Sagging eyelid skin, lowered eyebrow lines, loose skin under the chin and around the neck or decollete are signals of a patient who may be a candidate. Although Ultherapy is not meant to substitute the results of a facelift, many people who desire lifting, but are not ready for surgery, are excellent candidates. A complimentary consultation with Dr. Nina Desai, Anti-aging Specialist, is held before scheduling the procedure, to create a customized treatment plan designed to achieve the patient’s anti-aging goals.

What to Expect After Treatment

Patients will notice results after just one treatment, and will continue to notice results over the next few months as the body’s collagen production process is stimulated. There aren’t usually any visible signs of treatment, but redness, bruising, or tenderness could occur, and will dispel over the following few days. Since no downtime is required for this procedure, patients can immediately return to work or resume normal daily activity.

Natural, Noticeable Results

The Ultherapy Treatment Process

Prior to treatment, Dr. Nina Desai evaluates patient’s anti-aging goals, and develops a customized treatment plan to ensure anti-aging goals are met. Ultherapy is performed by a well-trained skin care professional in a comfortable treatment room. Using a small hand piece, the treatment professional will gently glide over the skin while pulsing quick bursts of ultrasound energy into the skin. Ultherapy is not usually considered to be painful, and is described by patients as bursts of warmth, or mild tingling sensation. Treatments usually take an hour or less to complete.

Can Ultherapy replace a face lift?

Ultherapy treats the deep foundational layer addressed in cosmetic surgery, but won’t duplicate the results of a facelift. Ultherapy is a great alternative, however, especially for those not ready for surgery or for patients looking to extend the effects of cosmetic surgery.

How does Ultherapy stimulate the creation of collagen?

Ultherapy deposits focused ultrasound energy deep beneath the skin at the optimal temperature for collagen regeneration. The treatment jump-starts a natural process, known as neocollagenesis, to produce fresh, new collagen. Ultherapy doesn’t involve any creams, fillers or toxins; it just relies on your body’s own collagen-building process for natural, noticeable results.

How long does an Ultherapy treatment take?

The length of the treatment will depend on the area being treated and your individual treatment plan. A face and neck procedure typically takes 60-90 minutes, while a chest treatment takes approximately 30 minutes.

What does the Ultherapy treatment feel like?

As the ultrasound energy is delivered, you will feel tiny amounts of energy being deposited to precise depths, indicating that the collagen-building process has been initiated. Comfort levels vary from person to person, but the sensation only lasts while the ultrasound energy is being delivered.

When will I see results? How long do they last?

After your Ultherapy Treatment, you may see some initial effect, but the ultimate results will take place over 2-3 months, as your body naturally regenerates collagen. Since the procedure stimulates your own collagen production, how long the results last really depends on you. The treatment produces new collagen on the inside, but your natural aging process will dictate how long that translates into visible results on the outside.

How many Ultherapy treatments will I need?

Most patients only need one treatment. However, based on the degree of skin laxity, the biological response to ultrasound energy and the individual’s collagen-building process, some patients benefit from additional treatments. Because skin continues to age, future touch-up treatments can help patients keep pace with the body’s natural aging process.

Are there any side effects?

The skin might appear flushed at first, but the redness should disappear within a few hours. Some patients experience slight swelling, tingling or tenderness to the touch, but these are temporary in nature. Other, less common post-procedural effects may include temporary bruising or numbness on small areas of skin. As with any medical procedure, there is the possibility for other rare effects, which your practitioner will review with you.

Is Ultherapy safe?

The FDA-cleared Ultherapy procedure has been used safely in over 250,000 treatments worldwide. Ultrasound energy has been used safely in the medical field for more than 50 years.
