With Botulinum Toxin, or commonly known as the brand Botox, being the number one aesthetic treatment in the industry you can imagine all of the common questions I receive everyday! What is Botox? When do I need to start? Where is it used? Does it hurt? How often do I have to get it? What exactly can I use it for….?

Well I’m here to answer! Let’s start with what is Botox? Botox is a muscle relaxer, thereby preventing the muscle to contract and create lines. It temporarily reduces muscle activity, helping smoothing out visible lines. It is a 5 minute procedure and is not painful. Many of my patients will use ice, but most tolerate this quick, easy and instant gratification procedure extremely well.

Botox is commonly used for wrinkles and fine lines in the forehead, eyes and frowns lines or better known as the 11’s. However it also works to prevent oil production in the face, minimizing acne, reduce excessive sweating, and helps with a minor “lift” affect in areas of the face!

When should one start receiving Botox treatments? The recommended age to start is around 30 or when you begin to see lines that don’t disappear, also known as static lines. We do however see a rise in patients from their early 20’s using Botox as a preventative measure!

You don’t want to look fake or frozen? Don’t worry, you will not look overdone. As a professional doctor, who is trained and licensed, I am the one performing the treatment. Myself and Dr. Patel customize treatments to each patient, meaning we listen to what YOU want and use our medical background and knowledge of the body to produce the best results.

As for how many times should one receive Botox? We recommend every 3 to 4 months, or when you begin to see the lines return. This is of course is different for each individual. Altogether we offer Botox, Xeomin, and Dysport; all FDA approved and great brands to meet your needs. This allows us to tailor your treatment to your specifications, and as the body changes, we can change with you!
